4th Grade Math Pacing Guide

Attention 4th Grade Teachers!!

Elizabeth here from

Are you using enVision Math from Pearson?  If so, below you can find a pacing guide that my teammate and I developed to align with Common Core.  Several "Topics" in this series are not part of the Common Core Standards and have been dropped to make time in the schedule for the standards that need more focus (eh hem...fractions).

Even if you don't use enVision, this pacing guide might help you get started in your planning for the year.

You may download the document by clicking here.

Even though most textbooks have you starting with place value, you will notice that we decided NOT to start with place value.  We have found over the years that starting with place value is too difficult.  It's almost too abstract for students right out of the gate, so to speak.  Instead, we decided to start with a review of multiplication facts.

This document is in word form so that you can edit and rearrange as you see fit.  I know that I would have loved to have found one to help me get started, so that is why I am more than happy to share.

Happy planning :)

Thanks,
Laura

I'm telling you, we are bloggy soul mates :) Same blog design, close in proximity (by the way, got my sharpener today! Love it and would LOVE a bloggy meet-up!) AND I use En-vision by Pearson! Thank you so much for this! I just told my hubby tonight I NEEDED to sit down and do this!

Our school is looking into enVision. What is your opinion about it? We have Math Trailblazers now and are finding that it doesn't meet our needs. We're piloting it this year as well as a few others. Any opinions you have would be great! Thanks :)

Wow...you all are awesome. I haven't even gotten to this yet on my to do list. We use Envision, but I kind of pull from all over to teach the standards. Unfortunately, Envision doesn't line up perfectly for all topics. I talked to them at ISTE and they told me they have a new app for iPad to use this year. I taught Common Core last year and one thing I learned is that some of the standards take a lot longer to master than others. I also didn't start with Place Value and have changed my schedule to start with mastering the facts. We are going to pilot a new program called Reflex Math to help the kids build math fluency. We also use Sumdog a lot for practicing facts. Thanks for sharing your work with us.
